    The Four Horseman of Notre Dame comprised the backfield of the Irish from 1922-24 under coach Knute Rockne, made up of Harry Stuhldreher, Don Miller, Jim Corwley, and Elmer Layden.  During their 3-year tenure they lost only two games.  The nickname came from Sportwriter Grantland Rice.
