Description

Original very rare notable episode from the third season of THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW.  This is the second episode of a two story arc introducing Mary’s parents.
The episode is titled YOU’VE GOT A FRIEND,  where Mary is helping her newly retired dad find a friend, realizing she herself, doesn’t know him as well as she’d like.  To the dismay of her mother, she plans a special dinner just the two of them.  A really well done episode.
This episode is also notable and referred to often as it contains one of the series most quoted lines.  When leaving Mary and her father to have their evening, Mary’s mom says, “don’t forget to take your pill,” to which they both reply, “I won’t.”  The subtle disclosure that Mary is on the pill and therefore sexually active was considered progressive for television in this era.
